A Few I've Finished...

Made this quilt this time last year for a niece who came 3 weeks earlier than planned so it was not ready.  Her mama tells me she uses it every day and loves it.
I just love how this one turned out!! I quilted feathers in the setting triangles for my first time and that was time consuming to say the least. This one went to my aunt after being on display for a quilt show.

March is Here!

I got a crazy late night idea that kept me up later than normal. I made two of these hats for preschool, in honor or Dr. Suess' b-day. I found an easy tutorial
...you can check it out here.

Here is the March wall hanging above my piano. I really wanted to make a patchwork shamrock but had no idea really how to make it all work out. Then I saw a heart piecing tutorial here and that started the ball rolling. there is a little bit of applique on the stem, the four leaf clover, and the words but the rest is all pieced. An original!! I was sure proud of myself, even though after I started quilting I had to unpick two boarder rows because I didn't sew it together right, making such a fun project.

This Valentine's day will look a little more festive around my home!! I've been wanting to make something just right and up until now have not found anything that just grabbed me for this holiday. My better half and I don't traditionally celebrate this particular holiday, but I don't even notice. It has been fun for the kiddos to see the decorations go up!! I have heard my three year old exclaim, "Oh it so bootifah! you make it mommy!?!" This melts me.

The wall hanging is quilted in scrolling vines with hearts on each end inspired by one of the back fabrics. They are all my original design and I actually took the time to figure out the patterns and write them down. I blanket stitched around each letter on the banner and boy was I ever glad to finish the last 'Y'. I used only scraps to create both of these and that too feels good! Thanks to all my quilting friends who donate fabric. You know who you are ;)!

Lately...It's All I've Wanted To Do...

Have you ever been overwhelmed with the "other guys" project to work on your own creativity? These days, I am going to take time for myself...

Does the stress of the holidays seem gone all too quickly and your long for the feelings of joy, surprise, and anticipation? You don't have to stop those incredible feelings!
Have you ever felt like there wasn't enough time in your day for the simple pleasures? Lately, I feel the simple pleasures are the most important!

Now that the new year is here, I want to finish, finish, and finish some more! I am excited for the newest piece of furniture which has inspired me to create every month, MY PIANO!!!

Here's to January! I sure hope it snows soon and feel like January more!

BOM Quilt Done

Done and quilted. I still have to add the binding, but duty calls - you know the little things like house cleaning, laundry and dinner :)
I had a few problems with the quilting. It may have been that I used a remnant of batting that was somewhat stretched and torn, and floated it rather than putting it on roller. Oh well lesson learned, and I don't think anyone will notice.

On the sewing block...

Here's the most recent project on my sewing table. I think it looks like sherbet! I am using light and dark variations of the colors in the "doves at the window" pieced block. It is so fun to create! Try it you might get hooked!!

"Fall"-ing With Style

I was inspired by your original quilt and had to draw my own. Taking in to account the "pie effect" I thought it turned out OK and am excited to add it to my "list"...

These beauties were free! I made the ghost from piece by number and all the others are from http://artisania.wordpress.com/free-patterns/. I am finding if I have something to make/do that I cry much less...and then I go to church and it's all over....sigh!! Again all from scraps, yipee even the fabric was free.
